Why this one over the UV-5R
The K5 Plus adds airband and the 1.25M band plus a bigger battery. Worth it if you want airport tower traffic, air attack and medical helicopters during fire season. If you only want local police, fire and EMS, the UV-5R covers that for less.

The K5 Plus is a transceiver, not a receive-only scanner. We sell it, and programme it, for listening. Listening needs no licence. Transmitting is a different matter — sending on public safety, business or amateur frequencies without the appropriate FCC licence is illegal, and the channels we load are for monitoring only. If you want to transmit legally, look into an amateur radio licence first.

The service provided by the seller was very fast and highly recommended.
The only problem I had was having to request a refund and return the product due to Brazilian bureaucracy and lack of communication. Everything is okay with the approval, but the import was not authorized; Brazil is a step backwards. Further and further back.
